I started my career as photojournalist at Die Burger Newspaper in 2002. After working in Cape Town for about a year I came back to Gauteng and worked for Beeld until 2006. In those years I learnt a lot about lighting and getting the image even in difficult circumstances, people, discipline and life in general.
I believe that photography is a powerful medium of visual communication. An excellent image is not just striking (with perfect lighting, composition etc), but also has the power to evoke emotion and carry an important message across, especially if a moment was captured…and that is what I strive for with every picture I take.
